POLL: More Americans Satisfied With Economy, Military, and Security

A new poll released by Gallup shows more Americans in 2018 feel satisfied with the U.S. economy, security from terrorism, and the nation’s military strength and preparedness.

The results of this poll, conducted during the first week of the year, were compared to the same questions asked in 2017.

In 2018, 58 percent of U.S. adults said they felt satisfied with the nation’s economy, up 12 points from 46 percent in 2017.

Where security from terrorism is concerned, 63 percent of Americans said they were satisfied with the U.S.’s position, versus just 50 percent last year, a gain of 13 percentage points.

And 78 percent of respondents said they felt satisfied with the nation’s military strength and preparedness, up 12 points from 2017’s 66 percent.

President Trump’s first full year in office also saw a rise in Americans’ satisfaction with policies to reduce or control crime, up six points from 38 percent in 2017 to 44 percent in 2018.

Perhaps the most surprising statistic? Americans seem to believe race relations are improving in the country. That statistic saw a seven-point jump in satisfaction from 2017 to 2018, 22-29.
