POLL: Tammy Baldwin in Big Trouble in Wisconsin Senate Race

Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s (D-WI) reelection hopes are in question, as a brand-new poll released Wednesday shows the incumbent in a virtual tie with Republican Leah Vukmir in the Wisconsin U.S. Senate race.

According to the poll, Baldwin earned 49 percent support among likely voters and Vukmir earned 47 percent:

Baldwin expands her lead among registered voters, but likely voters are considered to be a better barometer for actual results with about two months to go until Election Day. It is a bit surprising, however, in a traditionally blue state like Wisconsin, that Republicans are as energized to vote as they are.

The poll comes about one week after Vukmir defeated businessman Kevin Nicholson in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. President Trump immediately endorsed Vukmir after her win, and House Speaker Paul Ryan has been a vocal advocate for Vukmir since his endorsement in June.
