POLL: Warren Leads in Minnesota, Klobuchar in 4th in Home State

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has slowly seen her stock rise in the Democratic presidential primary over the past few weeks. On Sunday, she received even more good news.

According to a poll conducted by Change Research, Warren leads the primary field in Minnesota, though her lead is within the margin of error.

Here’s how the poll results broke down:

Minnesota voters favor Warren the most at 21%, while Biden at 20% and Sanders at 19% poll close behind. Minnesotans put Klobuchar in fourth place at 16%, followed by Pete Buttigieg at 11%, Kamala Harris at 4%, Beto O’Rourke at 3% and Andrew Yang at 2%.

Per CBS Minnesota, women voters preferred Warren while men said they preferred Sanders. Biden meanwhile did the best among voters over the age of 50.

The results are not great news for Klobuchar, who represents Minnesota in the U.S. Senate. But Klobuchar’s position is not unique: Warren trailed Biden by 12 points in a Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll released earlier this month, and similarly Harris trailed Biden, Sanders, and Warren in her home state of California, according to an LA Times poll from early June.

The problem for Klobuchar is that unlike Harris or Warren, she rarely breaks the 5-percent barrier in most state and national polls. Klobuchar’s RealClearPolitics national polling average is 1.3 percent.
