ABC’s George Stephanopoulos was forced to briefly pause his interview with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D-NY) about his candidacy for president on Thursday to point out that they could hear protestors, upset with de Blasio’s work as mayor, outside the studio.

“You say it’s a tough city, we’re hearing it outside [with] some protestors,” Stephanopoulos said as intense whistleblowing could be heard.

De Blasio bushed off the protestors as nothing more than a little “serenade.”

Stephanopoulos pointed out that a recent poll found that 76 percent of New York voters and 73 percent of New York Democrats said that de Blasio should not run for president. He then asked de Blasio what the rest of the country should think about this.

“You know, I got elected mayor with 73 percent of the vote originally, re-elected with 67 percent. I think you would agree that the poll that actually matters is the election,” de Blasio said.

These numbers are hardly the overwhelming majority de Blasio would like viewers to believe they are. The 2013 mayoral election had a turnout of 26 percent, while the 2017 mayoral election had a turnout of just 23.9 percent.
