Report: McCaskill Fundraiser Host Retweeted Post Comparing GOP to KKK

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) is seeking Republican and Democratic votes in her effort to win reelection to her Missouri U.S. Senate seat this fall, or so she claims. McCaskill will likely need crossover votes to win in a state where Donald Trump handily defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016.

An upcoming fundraiser for McCaskill’s reelection, then, raises some important questions for her campaign to win over those Republican and independent votes.

Why? Well, the fundraiser host has shared social media content comparing Republicans to the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), and suggesting conservative beliefs are “low IQ.”

McCaskill’s fundraiser host is St. Louis lawyer Jeff Cooper. Here is some of Cooper’s social media activity, according to Fox News:

“To all you Trump folks out there, I hope you are proud. Traitors. All of you,” Cooper wrote in a tweet on his little-known Twitter account, the authenticity of which was confirmed by Fox News.

He also shared an article that claims “low IQ” and “conservative beliefs” are linked to people being prejudiced. “This explains it all. They really are stupid,” he wrote in another tweet.

Cooper has also compared the members of the Republican Party to the Ku Klux Klan, retweeting a post that featured an image of a KKK robe and captioned with “Friendly reminder to @GOP that it’s impolite to wear your whites after Labor Day.”

Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), another Democrat trying to win a U.S. Senate seat in a red state, is also benefiting from the fundraiser.

McCaskill’s campaign did not respond to Fox News‘s request for comment, but she may have to if Missourians catch wind of her attending a fundraiser hosted by someone with clear antipathy toward conservatives.
