Report Says GOP ‘Still Running Against Hillary Clinton.’ Why Wouldn’t They?

The ex-presidential candidate continues to be a major force in the Democratic Party, and as recently as this year has shown her disdain for a significant portion of Americans.

Report Says GOP ‘Still Running Against Hillary Clinton.’ Why Wouldn’t They?

In midterm elections, Republicans are running against … Hillary Clinton. Still.” “Republicans are still running against Hillary Clinton.”

Mainstream media outlets like USA Today and Axios (above, respectively) seem puzzled that Republicans are running against failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2018 midterms.

The better hypothetical question may be: why would Republicans not run against Clinton this fall?

It’s true that Clinton is not running for anything this year. But she continues to be a major figure and factor in the Democratic Party.

She made national headlines in March for saying married women voted for President Trump during the 2016 presidential election because their husbands told them to, and for saying Trump voters “didn’t like black people getting rights,” or women getting jobs.

Clinton said just last week that America is at “the beginning of the end of freedom.”

And, as NTK Network reported on Monday, the Clintons are coming back to the fundraising circuit in a big way this month, with events for the Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton’s dark money group Onward Together.

The Clintons, and Hillary Clinton in particular, show every intention of continuing to play a big role in the Democratic Party. They certainly have a right – and the ability – to do so, but it should mean that Republicans running against Clinton comes as less of a surprise to mainstream media.
