Talking Points Memo reporter Cameron Joseph accused the Capitol Police of attempting to “crack down on press access” in the wake of a protester who gained access to the halls of the Capitol Building last week.

Last Tuesday, left-wing activist Ryan Clayton threw Russian flags in President Trump’s general direction as a form of protest. Clayton performed the same protest against Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner last summer.

As a result, the Capitol Police appeared to institute new safety precautions. With Vice President Mike Pence visiting the Capitol on Tuesday, reporters were blocked from accessing a hallway.

“You can thank the protester & his Russian flags toss for this,” tweeted David Drucker, reporter for the Washington Examiner.

That’s when Joseph leveled his attack against the Capitol Police:

Joseph’s tweet did not address the fact that none of the reporters surrounding the protester questioned who he was or why he had press access.

Just a few months ago, the Capitol Police saved the lives of numerous congressmen and senators when a deranged shooter open fired on their baseball practice. President Trump paid tribute to those officers during a special ceremony at the White House in July.

A mere 8 minutes after Joseph questioned the Capitol Police’s safety precautions, he tweeted that the hallway had reopened. The reporter did not offer an apology with that tweet, however.
