Republicans Now Lead Democrats on Generic House Ballot

For months, political pundits and Democrats have talked about the looming “blue wave” for the midterm elections. They might not want to count their chickens before they hatch, because for the first time in the 2018 election cycle, Republicans led Democrats on a generic ballot among registered voters.

A Reuters poll found that 38 percent of registered voters said they would vote for a Republican candidate in the midterm elections, while just under 37 percent said they would support a Democrat.

In April, Democrats boasted of a double-digit lead over Republicans on the generic ballot.

Fifteen percent of those surveyed said they didn’t know which party’s candidate they’d support in the upcoming midterm elections.
