Reuters Releases 5 New Senate Polls; Finds Heller (NV) and Scott (FL) Up

Reuters released five new U.S. Senate polls on Wednesday morning. The release brings good news to the only embattled Republican U.S. Senate incumbent and to a governor who’s challenging an incumbent Democrat U.S. senator.

Four of the five states Reuters polled in will help determine which party controls the U.S. Senate in 2019 and 2020. They found that Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) is up three points on Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) in the race to defend his seat and keep it in Republican hands. Reuters also found that Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) is leading Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) in one of the most expensive U.S. Senate races this cycle.

Here all all five results:

  • Nevada: Heller, the Republican, leads Rosen, the Democrat, 46-43
  • Florida: Scott, the Republican, leads Nelson, the Democrat, 46-45
  • Arizona: Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), the Democrat, leads Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ), the Republican, 47-44
  • Texas: Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), the Democrat, leads Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), the Republican, 47-45
  • California: Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the incumbent Democrat, leads liberal challenger Kevin de León, 44-24

Liberals are sure to be excited by O’Rourke’s lead over Cruz. However, Reuters‘s findings don’t square with a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday that found Cruz leading O’Rourke 54-45.

One takeaway Republicans and Democrats may be able to agree on? The battle for the U.S. Senate will be a close one this November.
