Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said that according to special counsel Robert Mueller’s 37-page indictment Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election had no impact on the outcome of the election during a press conference on Friday.

Rosenstein was briefing reporters on Mueller’s 37-page indictment of 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities for allegedly interfering in the 2016 presidential election.

“There is no allegation in this indictment that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity,” Rosenstein told reporters in his prepared remarks. “There is no allegation in the indictment that the charged conduct altered the outcome of the 2016 election.”

A reporter followed up by asking Rosenstein if this indictment undermines the outcome of the election.

“What I’ve identified for you are the allegations in the indictment. There’s no allegation in the indictment of any effect on the outcome of the election,” Rosenstein responded.
