Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) blasted executives from Google for not attending a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing regarding Russian interference in U.S. elections on Wednesday and went as far as to suggest the tech giant’s absence was an attempt to avoid answering tough questions from the committee.

“I want to thank you both for being here, first of all,” Rubio said referring to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, who both appeared before the committee.

“There’s an empty chair next to you from Google, who is not here today and maybe it’s because they are arrogant,” Rubio said, echoing remarks reported by NTK Network on Tuesday.

Rubio then referenced a report from BuzzFeed News about how researchers from the advocacy group, the Campaign for Accountability, “posed as Kremlin-linked trolls and successfully purchased divisive online ads using Google’s ad platform and targeted them toward Americans.”

“So, I am sure they don’t want to be here to answer these questions,” Rubio said.

It should be noted that the Campaign for Accountability “has received funding from Google competitor Oracle,” according to BuzzFeed.
