"I don't think it's necessary. I don't think [Trump] is going to fire Muller. I think it would be a huge mistake" Ryan said on "Meet The Press."

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) told NBC’s Chuck Todd that he didn’t think legislation protecting Special Counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by President Trump was necessary during an interview on Sunday.

A bipartisan group of senators introduced legislation on Thursday that would protect Mueller’s probe.

Todd asked Ryan whether he would bring it up in the House, if the Senate passed this legislation.

“I don’t think it’s necessary. I don’t think [Trump] is going to fire Muller. I think it would be a huge mistake” Ryan said. “I don’t think he should be fired. I think he should be left to do his job, and I don’t think they’re really contemplating this.”
