"The problem we have is we have a president who is not serious about policy. A president who lies every single day."

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) dodged on what Democrats would be willing to compromise on when it comes to immigration reform during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” on Sunday.

CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Sanders what specifically Democrats are willing to compromise on when it comes to immigration.

Tapper referenced a tweet President Trump sent on Sunday:

“The problem we have is we have a president who is not serious about policy. A president who lies every single day. A president who told us that he couldn’t do anything about ripping children from the arms of their mothers that had to be in Congress and then two days later passed an executive order,” Sanders said. ” Clearly anyone who looks at the record understands that the Democrats in Congress have been serious about comprehensive immigration reform.”

After Sanders had completed his non-answer Tapper asked again what Democrats would be willing to compromise on, pointing towards funding a border wall and a merit-based immigration system as possible areas that Democrats could compromise.

“I held my nose and very reluctantly voted for some money for a border wall. That’s what we voted for,” Sanders said.

Sanders then attacked Trump for dividing the American people and not addressing the issue that the American people care about.
