Sanders: The Press Isn’t Covering Climate Change Because Fossil Fuel Companies Are Paying for Ads

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) a possibly 2020 presidential candidate said that he doesn’t believe that the press is covering climate change because fossil fuel companies advertise on news networks during an interview on Thursday.

CBS late night host Stephen Colbert asked Sanders about the recent climate reports and what can be done to keep these stories on the front page.

“One of the problems is, let me be very honest, whenever we turn on the television, all of these ads [are] from the fossil fuel industry,” Sanders said.

“So, CNN isn’t talking about global warming because Exxon is paying to keep the lights on,” Colbert interjected.

“I think that is one of the reasons, yeah, let me say that,” Sanders responded.
