Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) believes in programs that will lead to socialism in America during an interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday.

MSNBC’s Willie Geist asked Schultz about his opposition to Warren’s proposed 2-percent tax on people with $50 million or more in assets and whether his opposition was because he wants to protect his own money.

“Well, if that plan was put in place, it probably could fund the government for a day or two. So that’s not the answer,” Schultz said. “Let’s get serious people around the table and solve this problem once and for all, which is comprehensive tax reform.”

Geist followed up by asking Schultz whether he thought Warren was a serious person.

“I think she’s a serious person, yes,” Schultz said. “She came to see me a few years ago and asked me for a contribution for her Senate race.”

Geist asked Schultz whether he donated to Warren’s campaign.

“I did not,” Schultz replied.

“Why?” MSNBC’s Mike Barnicle asked Schultz.

“I don’t believe what Elizabeth Warren stands for. I don’t believe the country should be headed toward socialism,” Schultz said.

Barnicle then asked Schultz whether he believes Warren is a socialist.

“I think she believes in programs that will lead to socialism in America,” Schultz responded.
