See What Bill Clinton Says When Colbert Offers Him a ‘Do-Over’ on #MeToo Answers

Late-night host Stephen Colbert did his best to offer former President Bill Clinton a mulligan on his show Tuesday night, to little avail. Colbert offered the president a “do-over” on questions about his behavior as president, saying that his answer could have been seen as “tone-deaf.”

“Do you want a do-over on that answer?” he asked, helping Clinton through the answer. “Do you understand why some people thought that was a tone-deaf response to his questions about the #MeToo movement, and how you might reflect on your behavior 20 years ago?”

“That reflection may have changed based on what you’ve learned through the #MeToo movement,” he said.

Instead of apologizing, Clinton accused journalists of selectively editing his response.

“When I saw the interview, I thought [it looked bad] because they had to distill it,” he said. “And it looked like I said I didn’t apologize and I had no intention to, and I was mad at me.”

The former president admitted it “wasn’t [my] finest hour,” but moaned that he has “had to live with the consequences every day since.”

In two separate interviews this week, Clinton lost his cool or rejected responsibility when confronted about his role in the Lewinsky scandal.
