Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee could not even go a full minute before they turned the confirmation hearing for President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, into a political circus on Tuesday.

The chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), had barely started his opening remarks before Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) began to interrupt him.

“The Committee received just last night, less than 15 hours ago, 42,000 pages of documents that we have not had the opportunity to review,” Harris said.

“You are out of order. I will proceed,” Grassley said, before attempting to continue his opening remarks.

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) then interrupted Grassley, calling for the postponement of the confirmation hearing.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) called for the committee to adjourn, and the crowd erupted into applause at this proposal.

At this point, protestors started shouting in the back of the hearing room.
