Four outside groups working to keep the GOP Senate majority in 2018 put up a big fundraising number in the first quarter of the year, Politico‘s Playbook reported on Thursday.

FIRST IN PLAYBOOK — A group of Senate Republican-focused outside groups raised nearly $13.9 million during the first quarter of 2018. The SENATE LEADERSHIP FUND raised $9.6 million and ONE NATION brought in nearly $3.8 million. AMERICAN CROSSROADS brought in $350,500 and CROSSROADS GPS raised $50,000. That’s up from $7.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2017 and $7.1 million in the third quarter of 2017. Current cash-on-hand is $34.4 million.

The Senate Leadership Fund (SLF)’s leader, Steven Law, also noted the group has already received $12 million in “hard pledges” for the second quarter, leaving the group poised to top their first-quarter numbers in a few months.

The big fundraising totals for the four groups, all allies of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the Senate GOP majority, will help Republicans in their fight to keep a Senate majority this fall. Ten red-state Democrats are up for reelection in November, and two open seats (Nevada and Arizona) will be competitive.

Although SLF’s counterpart, the Democrat-supporting Senate Majority PAC, has not posted their first quarter fundraising numbers yet, SLF and its allies beat the Priorities USA family handily in the first quarter. According to Politico, the super PAC Priorities USA Action and the nonprofit Priorities USA raised a combined $6.7 million in the first three months of 2018.
