A Democratic staffer pulled House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) off the stage at a press conference on Thursday when questions from reporters turned to sexual harassment allegations against Rep. Ruben Kihuen (D-NV).

The House Minority Leader spent most of her press conference discussing tax reform, but then a reporter asked Pelosi if the issue could hurt the Democratic or Republican Parties politically and if Pelosi would support a primary challenge against Kihuen.

The House Minority Leader responded, saying sexual misconduct “was not a political issue.” She then attempted to filibuster the question for several minutes, praising women for speaking out and comparing them to the story of Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon during the Roman Civil War. Pelosi also discussed the importance of Time naming women as its “person” of the year.

When she finished, though, the reporter pressed again on a primary challenge to Kihuen.

“This is not about politics,” Pelosi said. “That’s the last thing it’s about.” She then pivoted back to tax reform, saying that “was not about politics,” either.

Another reporter asked Pelosi about sexual harassment in Congress, and the House Minority Leader continued to dodge on how she would deal with these claims.

She then looked to the side of the room, picking up her binder, and asked, “Time?”

Pelosi walked off before other reporters could ask about sexual harassment.

Kihuen alleged this week that Pelosi knew of allegations against him when he was running for Congress last year.
