Senior White House Adviser Stephen Miller told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday that Steve Bannon’s public betrayal of President Trump was “tragic and unfortunate,” describing his comments as “out-of-touch with reality” and “vindictive.”

“The whole White House staff is deeply disappointed in his comments, which were grotesque,” Miller said.

The White House adviser pointed out that Bannon was not present in the campaign for the June 2016 meeting with Russian lawyers. “He’s not really a remotely credible source on anything,” he added.

Miller went in on the book, describing it as “poorly written ficition.”

“The author is a garbage author of a garbage book,” he told Tapper, categorically rejecting the book’s characterization of President Trump’s state of mind.
