Billionaire Democrat donor Tom Steyer, in a speech at the Des Moines Register‘s Political Soapbox at the Iowa State Fair on Tuesday, fanned the flames of 2020 rumors, speaking at the event usually reserved for candidates with presidential ambitions.

As Steyer was introduced, the host noted that the megadonor has traveled around the country. When she mentioned that he was visiting Iowa, she commented, “You know what that means!”

The billionaire strolled onto stage in a pair of jeans, and a button-down shirt with rolled-up sleeves – the not-so-subtle outfit of presidential candidates in rural settings.

When Steyer opened his remarks for questions, a member of the audience asked him if he would run for president in 2020. The impeachment aficionado, who has run ads calling for President Trump’s removal, dodged the question.

“In terms of 2020, we’re running, what is I think with our partners, what is the largest grassroots organization in the United States, and we are totally focused on November 6, 2018,” he told the crowd. Steyer bragged about the reach of his organization, saying that he could reach 5.5 million people via email.

The billionaire added that he would consider his future after the midterms, but he left the door open to a potential run.
