House Democratic Conference Chair Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) added his name to the growing list of people who consider the GOP tax bill a success.

During a House Democratic Conference press conference Wednesday, Crowley told reporters that he would prefer that companies increase their employees’ wages rather than give out bonuses because of the GOP tax bill.

Lucky for Crowley, well over 30 companies so far have announced they would increase employees’ minimum wages to $15 an hour because of the GOP tax bill.

A reporter asked Crowley if he thought it was effective messaging for Democrats to refer to the bonuses that over 300 companies have given out because of the GOP tax bill as ‘crumbs.’

“I think for people making $40,000 a year, any increase in their take-home is significant for them, and I don’t want to diminish that at all,” Crowley responded.

“These are not in perpetuity. What about next year? What about the year after that? What I think people are looking for is an increase in their pay. That’s why I support the increase in the minimum wage to $15,” Crowley continued. “I am not saying we want everyone making $15, but we know all boats rise when you raise up for the least of us as well. That’s what the American worker is looking for.”

Well lucky for Crowley and hard working Americans, over 30 companies including Capital One, Humana, JPMorgan Chase, MetLife, and Wells Fargo have announced they would increase their minimum wage to $15 an hour.

The GOP tax bill is accomplishing what Crowley wants, even if he doesn’t realize it.
