In a night full of funny and creative commercials, one stood out for its bad taste.

Super Bowl 52 offered Americans an exciting game, a nostalgic halftime show, and a host of funny and creative ads.

One commercial that aired Sunday night, though, can’t be included among the highlights.

Ram Trucks, owned by Dodge, decided that civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would have gladly supported Ram, with a strange ad using inspiring words from a 1968 King speech to sell their trucks.

Twitter users roasted the ad as out-of-touch and exploitative.

Most importantly, though, Bernice King, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s daughter, criticized the ad.

In response to a Twitter user who said of the ad, “So that means the King children allowed Dr. King’s voice to be used to sell me a Dodge truck,” King offered a simple reply:

The King Center, where Bernice King is CEO, issued a statement shortly after the ad aired.

It’s going to be a bad Monday for Dodge.
