Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), a member of the House Intelligence and Oversight Committees, told CBS News’ Margaret Brennan on Sunday that the FISA warrant on Trump adviser Carter Page “would not have been” approved without the information in the Steele dossier.

Brennan asked Gowdy if the dossier was the only evidence contained in the FISA application, and the representative admitted that other information contributed to the warrant.

But Gowdy was adamant that a judge would have shot down the warrant if the dossier’s information had not bee included.

Brennan pressed Gowdy, pointing out that four judges approved the warrant.

The House Intelligence Committee member declined to further elaborate, but it’s worth noting that Gowdy was present for FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s classified testimony in December.

The release of the GOP memo alleging misconduct at the Department of Justice has sparked interest in making McCabe’s testimony public.
