Trump Blasts Google for ‘Rigged’ Search Results

President Donald Trump blasted search engine Google for rigging its algorithm to favor what he calls “fake news” media outlets like CNN on Tuesday following a report conducted by PJ Media earlier in the week.

Trump went as far as to suggest that there might be an investigation into Google practices, calling it a “very serious situation.”

“Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD,” Trump tweeted. “Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal?”

Trump then claimed that 96 percent of results on Google’s search engine were from the “National Left-Wing Media.”

Earlier this week PJ Media published a report, which found:

“As you can see, CNN has a disproportionate number of articles returned when searching for “Trump” — nearly 29 percent of the total. In fact, left-leaning sites comprised 96 percent of the total results.”

“Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed,” Trump tweeted.

These comments by Trump, “come ahead of congressional hearings next week in which executives from many of the largest internet companies will be questioned.”

“Search is not used to set a political agenda and we don’t bias our results toward any political ideology,” Google said in a statement. “Every year, we issue hundreds of improvements to our algorithms to ensure they surface high-quality content in response to users’ queries.”

“We continually work to improve Google Search and we never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment.”
