President Donald Trump is using the full power of the presidency to help boost Republicans in key 2018 midterm battleground states this month, according to reports. The president will also visit a few conservative states that strongly backed his presidential campaign in 2016.

According to Roll Call, White House political advisers named seven states where Trump will visit, and his political campaign operation added one more:

White House political advisers recently pointed to seven states Trump will hit this month alone: Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, Tennessee, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. His campaign organization also added Indiana, where he campaigned sharply against vulnerable Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly, calling him the “worst” and least effective senator, citing a Center for Effective Lawmaking study.

Trump has pledged to fully invest himself in the 2018 midterms, and today’s announcement confirms that pledge.

Candidate Trump carried each of these eight states in 2016, many by double-digit margins. It seems clear the White House’s strategy is to play to the president’s strengths and keep him in friendly territory in the weeks leading up to the November election.

NTK Network reported yesterday that former President Obama is similarly sticking to states where he’s popular, like California and Illinois.
