President Trump attacked former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) chief Richard Cordray in a pair of tweets Saturday night, saying the agency had been a “complete disaster” under the administration of Obama pick Richard Cordray.

Trump promised to “bring the [the CFPB] back to life” with a new administrator and urged his followers to read a recent editorial in The Wall Street Journal about Cordray’s tenure.

The president said in his tweets that “[f]inancial institutions have been devastated and unable to properly serve the public” after Cordray’s tenure.

“Check out the recent Editorial in the Wall Street Journal @WSJ about what a complete disaster the CFPB has been under its leader from previous Administration, who just quit!” he wrote. The editorial promoted by the president celebrates Cordray’s departure.

Cordray has been mentioned as a possible Democratic candidate for the 2018 governor’s race in Ohio.
