Trump Goes Two-for-Two in Recent Gov Primaries

President Trump’s endorsed candidates have gone two-for-two in recent gubernatorial GOP primary runoffs, after Brian Kemp won nearly 70 percent of the vote in the Georgia runoff on Tuesday evening.

Kemp saw a significant push from the president on Trump’s favorite platform, Twitter, in the lead-up to election day.

Kemp defeated rival Casey Cagle 69.4 percent to 30.6 percent. He will face Democrat Stacey Abrams in November.

The president similarly intervened in the South Carolina gubernatorial primary in favor of incumbent Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC), holding a rally for the candidate.

McMaster also won his primary. It remains to be seen whether Trump’s support will ultimately aid candidates in winning office in the general election.
