President Trump announced Tuesday that he ordered Attorney General Jeff Sessions to craft regulations that would ban bump stocks across the country.

“After the deadly shooting in Las Vegas, I directed [the] attorney general to clarify whether certain bump stock devices like the one used in Las Vegas are illegal under current law,” Trump told a gathering of first responders.

The president then announced that following the review, he ordered Sessions to “propose regulations to ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns.”

With Sessions in the audience, Trump nodded to him, saying, “I expect these regulations would be finished very soon.”
