President Trump, in a series of morning tweets on Wednesday, simultaneously went after his former lawyer and praised his former campaign manager, following their respective guilty plea and conviction.

A jury convicted former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort of tax fraud and other charges Tuesday, while former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations. Cohen accused Trump of directing him to make the payments.

Trump, in response, recommended that Americans looks elsewhere for their legal representation.

But on the other side, Trump praised Manafort, calling him a “brave man” who “refused to ‘break.'” He also cited the fact that 10 counts against Manafort ended in a mistrial, indicating that he could move in to help his former campaign manager with a pardon.

It would be a controversial move to pardon his former campaign chief, but Trump is no stranger to provocative pardons.
