President Donald Trump predicted he will most likely face former Vice President Joe Biden or Sen. Bernie Sanders in the general election next year in a Friday morning tweet.

“Looks to me like it’s going to be SleepyCreepy Joe over Crazy Bernie,” he tweeted, using his favorite nicknames for the Democratic primary frontrunners.

Thus far, polling appears to indicate Trump might be correct. Biden’s polling has rocketed upward since he entered the race in late April. According to RealClearPolitics, his average lead over the next contender is 26.8 percentage points (41.1 percent to Sanders’ 14.6 percent).

Take a look at this graphic, which shows Biden’s meteoric rise in the primary since entering the race:

The Democrats’ final primaries will be taking place about a year from now. With more than 20 candidates in the race and thanks to the DNC’s delegate awarding system, it’s unlikely one single candidate will run away with the nomination before the primary calendar.

So, while Trump is speculating about who he’ll face off against in the fall of 2020, it could be a long, long time until we know for sure who that Democrat will be.
