President Trump, delivering remarks to the March for Life from the White House Rose Garden on Friday, told the pro-life activists that he would always stand for “the right to life.”

Trump said that the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision led to “some of the most permissive abortion laws anywhere in the world,” noting the similarity between abortion laws in the United States and those of North Korea and China.

The president pointed out that only 12 percent of Americans support abortion-on-demand, with the overwhelming majority of the U.S. population favoring more restrictions on the process.

“Under my administration, we will always defend the very first right in the Declaration of Independence, and that is the right to life,” he said to applause.

The main rally for the March for Life occurred on the National Mall, with thousands of pro-life activists coming to Washington, D.C.
