President Donald Trump said on Friday that he believes there will be bipartisan support for an infrastructure plan that will rebuild America in 2018, and expects it to get passed very quickly.

“I really do believe we’re going to have a lot of bipartisan work done, and maybe we start with infrastructure because I really believe infrastructure can be bipartisan,” Trump said in the Oval Office, after signing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law. “We’ve spent $7 trillion in the Middle East … it’s time for us to rebuild our country.”

A reporter then asked Trump if he should have started with infrastructure. During the 2016 campaign Trump “promised to deliver a $1 trillion infrastructure plan to improve the condition of roads, bridges, airports and other public works.”

“We’re going to get infrastructure. Infrastructure is the easiest of all,” Trump responded. “Infrastructure is by far the easiest. People want it, Republicans and Democrats. We’re going to have tremendous Democratic support on infrastructure, as you know. I could have started with infrastructure. I actually wanted to save the easy one for the one down the road, so we will be having that one done pretty quickly.”
