Tweeters to Taylor Swift: You’re Not Allowed to Have a Great Year … Because of Trump?

The Twitter outrage machine worked its magic against pop star Taylor Swift on Thursday, merely for saying she had a great 2017.

It’s 2017, and for some people that means no one is allowed to have a good year.

This all started when pop star Taylor Swift, who recently released a new album called “reputation,” shared an Instagram post ahead of her birthday saying she “couldn’t have asked for a better year.”

I love you guys so much. This was a photo @paul_sidoti took at @capitalofficial Jingle Bell Ball in London a few days ago. I couldn’t have asked for a better year, all thanks to you. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Can’t wait to see what 28 will be like. See you on tour 😄

Apparently, to some Twitter users, it’s an outrage Swift had a good year. The subtext, some may say, is that Donald Trump’s presidency means everyone had to have a terrible year.
