A self-driving car under Uber’s command struck and killed a pedestrian in Arizona on Sunday, forcing the company to halt all self-driving tests on Monday.

The company halted operation of all autonomous vehicles in San Francisco, Toronto, and Phoenix, according to Bloomberg.

This was the “first pedestrian fatality involving a driverless vehicle,” Bloomberg wrote.

The ride-sharing company has been slowly introducing and testing the artificial intelligence-powered cars in cities around the country, but the most recent tragedy could halt Uber’s futuristic efforts.

This is only the latest controversy compromising Uber’s integrity. Last year a hostile workplace for women and a massive data breach dominated headlines surrounding the company.
