VP Goes on the Air to Urge Two Red-State Dems: Confirm Kavanaugh

Vice President Mike Pence hit the ground running on the fight to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, making two appearances on local radio to urge two red-state Democratic senators to confirm the judge to the highest court in the land.

One interview, shared from the vice president’s Twitter account, was with WV MetroNews in West Virginia.

“This will be a choice for Senator [Joe] Manchin [D-WV], whether he’s going to stand with Chuck Schumer and liberals in Washington, D.C. … or whether they’re going to stand with the President’s nominee.”

Pence took a similar message to his home state Indiana, and WIBC-FM, to pressure Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN) to vote yes on Kavanaugh.

“Is Joe Donnelly going to stand with Chuck Schumer and with the American left, or is he going to stand up and support … Kavanaugh?”

Manchin and Donnelly both voted to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Both are facing tough re-election fights in 2018, in states Donald Trump won in 2016.
