The Washington Post released an updated version of their “top 10 Senate races” in 2018 on Friday, and the rankings again confirm that Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) is considered one of the nation’s most vulnerable incumbents.

The Post‘s Amber Phillips wrote:

3. Missouri (D), previous ranking 1: Claire McCaskill remains one of the most endangered Senate Democrats this November. Both sides acknowledge she’s a talented politician, but Republicans think they’ve found the right person to unseat her: Josh Hawley, a young, telegenic politician who was just elected attorney general in 2016 and who is heavily favored to win the August primary. Democrats are trying to tie Hawley to the unpopularity of the rest of Missouri government, including disgraced former GOP governor Eric Greitens. Meanwhile, Republicans are arguing that McCaskill is out of touch, pointing to a private plane she’s used to campaign across the state. Expect this race to be close and one of the most negative of the cycle.

There’s a morsel of good news for McCaskill: according to the Post, she has moved from #1 most vulnerable senator to #3 most vulnerable. Don’t mistake that for McCaskill being out of the woods, though. Conservative and Republican groups are spending heavily against her this fall, and she’s facing a choice between her liberal base and her constituents this summer with the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Beyond McCaskill, the Post analysis is perhaps even worse news for Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN), who moved from #3 most vulnerable to #2 most vulnerable amid a stiff challenge from businessman and Republican Mike Braun. Seven of the 10 most vulnerable senators on the Post‘s list are Democrats.
