The Washington Posts David Ignatius said that President Trump’s claim that he had been wiretapped by President Obama’s administration had “morphed” into an “accepted” discussion about surveillance on Face the Nation Sunday.

“What’s happened this month is what initially seemed a preposterous argument by Donald Trump, that he had been wiretapped by President Obama illegally, has morphed into an argument about privacy, about proper masking techniques, a very technical legal issue,” Ignatius said.

This argument “is now accepted as part of the mainstream set of issues that are going to be debated by the intelligence committees.”

Ignatius added that this development was “a success” for Trump, but “a pyrrhic victory” for House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes (R-CA).
