Warren Raised Just $299,000 Online on Her Presidential Campaign Launch Day

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) posted a meager $299,000 in online fundraising on the day that she launched her presidential exploratory committee, according to a new Federal Election Commission filing.

Politico reported that an “analysis of the year-end filing from ActBlue, the online fundraising platform used by Warren and most other Democratic campaigns, shows more than 8,000 donations earmarked to Warren’s exploratory committee streaming in on Dec. 31, after she released a video announcing her campaign that morning. That works out to an average donation of about $37.”

Supporters of Warren’s should be concerned about this fundraising number, as it pales in comparison to the $1.5 million that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) raised in the first 24 hours after launching her bid for the White House.

While Democrats continue to decry money in politics, presidential candidates still need to be able to raise money, and lots of it, in order to be successful. If this report is any indication, Warren may have her work cut out for her as she attempts to win over grassroots Democrats.
