Warren’s Hometown Paper: No One Seems to Care About Her Policy Proposals

In the eyes of many Democrats, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is doing everything right.

She was among the first candidates to announce her candidacy. She’s been first out of the gate to criticize President Trump, most recently calling on the House to begin impeachment proceedings. And she’s put forth a bevy of radical, detailed policy proposals designed to excite liberal activists and spark the imaginations of rank-and-file Democrat voters.

And yet, here we are, nearly five months into 2019, and Warren is languishing at 5 percent in the New Hampshire primary polls.

Here are my ideas, here’s what I care about, and here’s why. That’s the sort of thing that voters ought to be most concerned with. Anyone who voted for Warren’s reelection to the Senate last year but had real trepidation about a presidential bid can rest easy. She’s doing Massachusetts proud.

And so, because everything about our political landscape is a fiery hellscape, a University of New Hampshire poll released this week had Warren at just 5 percent among likely Granite State Democratic primary voters.

Instead of leading the presidential primary field in neighboring New Hampshire, Warren’s policy-focused approach has put her a solid 10 percentage points behind Pete Buttigieg, the little-known mayor of South Bend, Indiana, whose only other foray into national politics was a failed run for DNC chair in 2017.

Nestor Ramos in the Boston Globe asks, “Elizabeth Warren Keeps Offering Detailed Policy Proposals. Why Do So Few Democrats Seem To Care?”

The truth is, Democratic primary voters might just not like the messenger rather than the actual message?
