The Chicago Tribune recently reported that 400 people in Chicago have been shot this month, resulting in 78 homicides, making August the most violent month in the city in 20 years.
On Tuesday, the Obama administration was asked what specific plans they had to combat the violence in Chicago. “Well, I’m not aware of any specific prescription that the President’s prepared to put forward to address the situation just in Chicago,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told the press corps.
“I know Mayor [Rahm] Emanuel is quite focused on that,” he added
