White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Wednesday at a press briefing on Wednesday that “no decision” had been made regarding U.S. participation in the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics.

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley “cast doubt” on the possibility of U.S. attendance earlier in the day, given the games’ location in South Korea. While the United States has no issue with Seoul, the country’s northern counterpart, North Korea, could pose a security threat to American athletes.

Sanders said that an “inter-agency” process would determine whether it was safe for American athletes to compete.
