Why Hasn’t NBC or Comcast Apologized for Controversial SNL Sketch?

Neither NBC nor its parent company Comcast have issued a formal apology for a “Saturday Night Live” sketch that mocked Republican congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, for losing an eye during an IED blast while serving in Afghanistan.

The sketch, which featured comedian Pete Davidson mocking several candidates running for office during the “Weekend Update” skit, first aired on Saturday.

“This guy is kind of cool, Dan Crenshaw,” Davidson said, while a picture of Crenshaw appeared on the screen.

SNL’s Michael Che can be heard saying, “Oh, come on, man!”

“Hold on. You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate from Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie,” Davidson joked.

“I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war or whatever,” Davidson added.

The segment caused a backlash from both sides of the political landscape, yet despite this backlash neither NBC nor Comcast have issued a public apology to Crenshaw.
