The Associated Press reported Thursday that 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has no intention of yielding the stage in 2018, indicating that she will insert herself into the upcoming midterms in support of Democrats.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), the chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), said that Democrats would “welcome support” from the failed presidential candidate.

But that could cause problem in North Dakota for the state’s Democratic senator, Heidi Heitkamp, according to North Dakota’s SayAnythingBlog:

That is not good news for Heitkamp. Even if Clinton doesn’t campaign in North Dakota, specifically, her visibility speaking on behalf of Democrats nationally is going to be a headache for the incumbent.

Clinton is toxic here. Democrats like Heitkamp need her to unseen and unheard.

Clinton endured a 36-point beatdown in North Dakota in 2016, taking only 28 percent of North Dakotans compared to Donald Trump’s 64 precent.

Clinton’s involvement in the 2018 elections could end up costing Democrats their chance at retaining the seat.
