Will McCaskill Return $5K From Sen. Tom Carper, Who Admitted to Hitting His Wife?

Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) is subject to fallout this week after a Washington Free Beacon report found he admitted in 1998 to hitting his wife during an argument.

NTK Network reported on Thursday that several Democratic senators and representatives have received contributions from Carper. One is Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who is one of the nation’s most vulnerable Democrats in 2018.

A big question, then, remains: will McCaskill return the $5,000 she received from Carper in 2012?

McCaskill is already under fire for calling harasser Al Franken’s apology “refreshing” in November. She would have a chance to make a quicker response to the unearthing of Carper’s admission, but so far there’s no indication McCaskill has addressed the issue.

Carper denied the Free Beacon report in a statement he issued Thursday evening:
