Will President Trump Force the FBI to Reveal its Source in His Campaign?

President Trump, who previously protected the FBI and Department of Justice from House Intelligence Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), may be less likely to shield the identity of sources who allegedly spied on his campaign, after recent reports.

Earlier this year, Nunes sought to obtain information that could out a “top secret intelligence source,” according to The Washington Post.

The Justice Department, with the support of the president, withheld the information on the source, who is described by the Post as “a U.S. citizen who has provided intelligence to the CIA and FBI.”

The House Intelligence Chairman threatened to hold DOJ officials in contempt when they refused to handle over the documents.

But, after a New York Times report, the president’s support for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and FBI Director Christopher Wray in the documents battle appears to be quickly evaporating.

A Times article on “Operation Crossfire Hurricane,” the investigation into the Trump campaign, revealed that an informant met with various members of the Trump campaign.

The president and his lawyer have raised the prospect of the Obama Justice Department spying on his campaign, with Trump calling it the “all time biggest political scandal” in a Friday morning tweet:

With Trump’s anger at the Russia investigation growing by the day, the informant’s time in anonymity may be coming to a close.
