Witches to Trump: Stop Saying ‘Witch Hunt’

A group of individuals who consider themselves to be witches are deeply upset with President Donald Trump’s use of the phrase “witch hunt” to describe Robert Mueller’s investigation involving his 2016 campaign and the Russians.

The Daily Beast’s Will Sommer talked to several people who purported themselves to be witches, and the general consensus of the witch community is that Trump’s rhetoric is “deeply problematic and, frankly, a bit hurtful.”

According to self-professed witch Kitty Randall, the phrase “witch hunt” dredges up a “traumatic emotional imprint” on “modern-day witches.”

“To have him compare his situation to the worst period in our history is just infuriating,” she told Sommer.

Trump has used the phrase more than 60 times on Twitter.

So, what are the witches doing about it? Some are choosing to cast spells against Trump and his associates:

Faced with a barrage of “witch hunt” slurs, some witches have chosen to raise the stakes, resorting to spell-casting. A group of witches organized on the internet casts a monthly “binding” spell on Trump, while another group attempted to hex Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

But Trump doesn’t need to be worried about a plague of toads showing up at the White House anytime soon. Randall said most witches have opted not to use magic against Trump.

It was not clear from the Daily Beast’s reporting whether the Secret Service is taking any action to protect the president from these witches’ spells and hexes.
